Another wonderful season in Chautauqua is over and the St. Elmo is moving into its settling down and buttoning up phase of operations. Off-season refurbishment and repairs are scheduled, with essential window replacements being the featured item.
Hospitality functions at the St. Elmo were particularly notable this 2017 season. They began in June with an owner reception in the La Familia, featuring excellent food by Chef Burke Lindquist and a visit by the new Chautauqua President, Michael Hill. Well attended socials were held each Sunday of the season in the Parlor. Thank you to the Hospitality Committee and volunteer owner hosts for making each one special.
Next year is the 30th anniversary of the St. Elmo Condominium and we hope to arrange for special recognition of the event. We are forming a special committee to brainstorm options and recommend a schedule of celebration for the 2018 season. We will look for a report at the April 2018 Board meeting. Several individuals have already volunteered and I am looking for a chairperson to lead the effort. Please call me (301- 996-8532) to offer your help.
All of the standing committees accomplished substantial work this year, please read their reports carefully as they show how well owner interests are being tended to. CARE completed another year of excellent support to the Association and the building. Particularly notable is the quality of the staff they have hired and trained. Deanna Johnson, Joreta and Dick’s daughter, has been added to the management team. Each of you should make an effort to get to know her, as she will be a growing presence in future CARE operations. Look for her picture in the new Association website when it comes on line and also look for a bio in a future newsletter.
